Rock & Roll
We’ve shown you the Spex, the Hugs and now…
Things you don’t expect in an optician…
Yes, we’ve got eyewear that makes you look and feel brilliant. Yes, Jez and the team know their stuff when it comes to eye health. But walk into EYES on St Albans and you’ll also discover something a little louder, a little prouder, and a whole lot more fun. Rock & Roll.
Step inside the shop and you’ll see straight away: this is not your average opticians. Whether it’s the photos (and yes you probably do recognise some of the folk Jez has styled in the past), the hats (so many hats) or the collection of signed album covers — little slices of music history that keep the vibe alive every single day – we have even more than eyecare and eyewear of excellence
Look a bit further and you’ll spot our growing family of electric guitars, either gifted or loaned to us by friends of EYES. They’re not just for show. They’re part of the spirit of the place: rock & roll runs through the shop as much as it runs through our eyewear collections.
And yes — there’s always music on. We don’t do awkward silences. You’ll hear riffs, classics, maybe even the odd guilty pleasure track while you’re trying on your new frames.
But here’s the kicker: if you fancy a jam, we’ll hand you a lead. Plug into our amp and give us a tune. Entertain us while you browse, and who knows — you might be the next St Albans rock legend.
Because at EYES, we believe style and personality go hand in hand. From Kirk & Kirk’s riot of colour to MOSCOT’s New York cool, from Blake Kuwahara’s edgy architecture to our very own EYES collection, our frames are as individual as your playlist. And just like great music, they never go out of style.
So, glasses? Yes. Eye health? Absolutely. Rock & Roll? Always.

Never mind the … Rock & Roll…

Brother from another mother … Simon Campbell
Simon gifted one of his oldest guitars to the shop, a Hagstrom Viking 1967 (A favourite of Elvis) Jez’s birth year for added poignancy. These days Simon can be found at his recording studio retreat in Portugal Supertone Sonic Lab https://supertone.eu/home with his wife Suzy, making music, being a master mixing craftsman, drinking wine & creating awesome food…! In 2009 Simon wrote a song about Jez ‘Brother’ : https://youtu.be/t6aOyzt2qKA
