Suicide prevention. Local beginnings. National impact.
Founded right here in Marshalswick, less than a mile from the shop, The OLLIE Foundation has grown into one of the UK’s leading voices in suicide prevention – offering training, support and resources that save lives.
Their work is vital. And personal. Focused not just on crisis response, but on education and early intervention – giving young people, families, schools and professionals the tools to talk about mental health and support one another with confidence and compassion.
At EYES on St Albans, we’ve supported the OLLIE Foundation’s work in various ways – from fundraising to awareness-raising – because we believe that talking about mental health isn’t just important, it’s essential. Especially for men, who are statistically less likely to reach out, and more likely to suffer in silence.
Sometimes, connection starts with a conversation. So we always say: you’re welcome to pop into the shop – whether you want to chat about lenses or just need five minutes of calm and a bit of human kindness. No judgement. No pressure. Just spex, hugs and rock’n’roll.
Because being part of this community means showing up for the moments that matter – even the quiet ones.
We stand with the OLLIE Foundation in saying that suicide is preventable. And we’ll keep playing our part, however small, in making sure people know they’re never alone.
You don’t have to need glasses to come in for a chat.
